Ein Fisch, der seine gesamte Existenz in einem Aquarium verbracht hat, kann nicht wissen, dass die Pflanzen künstlich sind, das Essen gefriergetrocknet verfüttert wird und dass die Luftblasen künstlich hergestellt und simuliert sind.
Die gesamte Welt des Fisches im Aquarium ist am Ende lediglich das: NUR ein Aquarium.
Vielleicht sind wir alle, auf die eine oder andere Weise, ja ebenfalls nur Fische in einem Aquarium.
Was passiert, wenn wir die Welt außerhalb des Aquariums entdecken? Sie könnte weit und atemberaubend sein oder trostlos und leer.
SueKi Yee beschäftigt sich in ihrem Solo mit der Frage nach Realität, Selbst- und Fremdbestimmung und Ignoranz.

SueKi Yee
… ist eine Tänzerin aus Malaysien, die derzeit in Deutschland lebt und hier choreographiert, unterrichtet und auftritt. Neben ihrer Ausbildung in Ballett und zeitgenössischem Tanz interessiert sie sich stark für traditionelle Tanzformen wie Joget Gamelan, Bharatanatyam und Zapin. Eine besondere Leidenschaft gilt der Improvisation und genreübergreifende oder multidisziplinäre Experimentiere. Ihre Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit (Multi-)Identität, Erinnerungen, der Wahrnehmung des weiblichen Körpers und der körperlichen Vergänglichkeit. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in Mexiko, Malaysia, den Niederlanden, Portugal, Griechenland, Deutschland, Brasilien und Ghana gezeigt.

A fish that has spent its entire existence in an aquarium cannot know that the plants surrounding it are made from plastic, the food is freeze-dried and the air bubbles are artificial.
In the end, the whole world of the fish in the aquarium is just that: ONLY an aquarium.
Maybe we are all, in one way or another, just fish in aquariums.
What happens when we discover the world outside the aquarium? It could be vast and breathtaking, or desolate and empty.
In her solo, SueKi Yee deals with the question of reality, self-determination and heteronomy and ignorance.

SueKi Yee
… is a Malaysian dancer currently residing in Germany where she choreographs, teaches and performs. In addition to her training in ballet and contemporary dance, she has a strong interest in traditional dance forms such as Joget Gamelan, Bharatanatyam and Zapin. A particular passion is improvisation and cross-genre or multidisciplinary experimentation. Her works deal with (multi-)identity, memories, the perception of the female body and physical transience. Her work has been shown in Mexico, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Brazil and Ghana.
